stained glass for all occasions

When we visited Tour Cathedral in the Loire Valley, I tried to get some photographs of the incredible stained glass. The nave is lined with individual chapels for many saints and apostles, and each has a stunning stained glass window, with four panels and a gothic arch above. Some were original designs, but many were modern interpretations with surprisingly abstract designs.

This past weekend was Doors Open Day in Edinburgh, so I took myself off to some of the building open in Leith. I found a lot of stained glass. The former Leith Sheriff Court, now Leith Police Station, with the motto of Leith – Persevere.

In Trinity House, the office for the Incorporation of Masters and Mariners.

South Leith Parish Church, adjacent to Trinity House.

A lovely church, with a beautiful timbered roof

Whoa EXTREME CLOSEUP
